H.E.A.L. (Helping End Abusive Living) program - Elementary School

The 4th and 5th grade program is a four part curriculum with the goal of teaching children how to identify abusive behaviors including bullying and domestic violence, resolve conflicts peacefully, and create personal safety plans. 

The 3rd grade program offers a single “story time” session. This session focuses on identifying and expressing feelings, self-esteem and safety planning. 

This program also offers a nine week V.I.P. (Violence Intervention Prevention) group curriculum focusing on Anger Management and Self Esteem. 

Teen Dating Violence Prevention – Middle and High School

SafeHouse provides middle and high school students with a customized curriculum on dynamics of abusive relationships. Some of the topics covered include:  warning signs of a battering personality, facts and definitions of relationship violence, safety planning, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and how to help a friend in an abusive relationship. This program is interactive and includes role-playing and video presentations. 

This program also offers a 9 week Support Group Curriculum for preventing Teenage Dating Violence and Promoting Healthy Relationships. 

In addition to public and private schools these programs are available to youth organizations/groups, and Juvenile Justice programs.

Professional Community Training

SafeHouse provides professional training. Participants receive important information to help in identifying victims of domestic abuse and those at-risk of abuse as well as information on available community resources. Educational materials, such as brochures and handouts, regarding domestic violence, dating violence, safety planning and related topics are available. 

Community educators are available to provide speakers for local businesses on a variety of topics addressing domestic violence issues.

Our Advocacy based program supports Safehouse of Seminole’s philosophy of empowerment. Participants of our Outreach Program are provided emotional support, safety planning, and information and resources to assist them in ascertaining their long term goals.  Housing and Relocation services are also available to those who qualify.

Domestic Violence Empowerment Support Groups

Participants receive educational information regarding the dynamics of abuse, safety planning and emotional support. Empowering them to break the cycle and maintain “abuse free” lives for themselves and their children. All groups are provided at confidential, safe locations and all services are free.

Survivors Speak Out, regaining their voices. Using art as the tool to break their silence, they share their experiences with the community to educate and empower. Adult and children’s workshops provided. To host an exhibit or workshop please contact our Outreach Services Coordinator.
